Social Media Conferences can be a great way for bloggers to move towards several goals in a few days. Each conference is different, as each conference organizer is different, and each of them has different end product in mind. As an attendee of any social media conference there are a few questions you can ask to help you chose a conference to best meet your individual needs.
5 questions to ask yourself
- What is your goal in attending the conference and what is the overall feel of the conference?
- Is the conference geared towards introducing exhibitors to attendees (brands to bloggers), towards education, or is it workshop based?
- What is the demographic of the conference?
- What do past attendees say of the conference? Ask a few of them privately; the answers will be much more honest.
- What is your current blogging level and does the conference offer sessions on the same level?
Conferences are fluid and just because one specific conference is a great fit this year; next year it may not be as good of a fit. Evaluate yourself, and your blog against the conference and find the ones which fit your end goals the best. Attending a conference isn’t just about the education received; it is also about the networking. In person bonds develop stronger and faster than those which form over the internet.
